Corporate Energies companies finalise base line analysis of a 58 MW wind energy portfolio in Azerbaijan

Baku, 09 October 2014. In the period between July and September 2014, Corporate Energies companies performed a base line analysis of a 58 MW wind energy portfolio, constituted by a total of 4 different wind parks in Azerbaijan.

The project consisted in a first survey of the general technical status of all 4 parks, conducted in July, with the purpose to evaluate the status quo and define the necessary actions to bring the turbines of the 4 parks with a total power of 58 MW to best performing operation.

In a second step, as part of the master plan developed consequently to the outcome of the above mentioned base line analysis, a detailed inspection of all turbines of the largest wind park, with a total nominal power of 50 MW was conducted in the period between 8th and 19th of September.

Currently the results are being evaluated and based on these the further steps will be planned and executed.

Alternative and renewable energy in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is considered one of the most important regions in the world for oil exploration and development. By 2020 the Azerbaijan government plans to increase its share of renewable energy sources to 9.7 percent of its total energy consumption, which is three times higher than today's rates. This goal is part of its recently approved plan National Strategy for the Development of Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources in 2012-2020.
